Life coaching? Sure, I had heard the phrase, but I can’t say I had a full clue what it meant. Nor did I see the personal value in it enough to investigate let alone solicit the help of one. It was only after being exposed to a very small portion of the life coaching world, did I develop an appreciation for the practice and approach. And, then one day it hit me like a ton of bricks. The light bulb came on at maximum brightness and I saw the in getting and in giving coaching. At the time I was smack dab in the middle of the course work of a Ph.D program that I started when I realized that life coaching as a practice could get me to my goal faster, cheaper and without nearly as many restrictions. And, so after research and careful deliberation I withdrew from school and here I am, blogging the field as a person currently taking a 50 plus hour life coaching certification course. . Thankfully, the industry is not yet governed which means that there are no licenses or certifications required to see clients As of the writing of this article I have already launched my practice and have had the pleasure of working with nearly 10 clients via my practice’s products or services. Currently I am the founder and the principle life coach of my practice and I have a robust plan of expansion in support of solid client base with a growing team of staff members. I am thrilled at the progressed made thus far. I am immensely grateful about the products that I’ve developed that I offer to both the general public as well as to my clients.
I know now that life coaching and counseling are two totally separate disciplines. And, I am thrilled that I chose coaching because it is a much better fit for me. I get to be focused on the outcomes, the long-term and short-term goals and the daily contribution considerations of my clients. I get to encourage their progress.
