A 3-minute read.
James W. Falcon is a native East Baltimorean whose journey has been shaped by resilience, faith, and purpose. After the loss of his mother, the end of a marriage, and an abrupt career shift, James returned home in 2010 to face one of the darkest seasons of his life. Standing at an emotional crossroads, he recognized his options clearly: implode under the weight of grief, or explode in frustration and despair.
Yet, even in that haze of pain and bewilderment, a spark ignited. James began thinking about others who might be navigating the same kinds of ruptures—loss, unexpected transitions, unraveling relationships—and wondered how he could reach and encourage them. Out of that moment of brokenness, he created two internet-based encouragement platforms: one for anyone in need of support, and another tailored specifically for men. These became the very first projects of what would eventually grow into the Encouragement Is Key Network.

In 2018, James faced another life-altering challenge: a right-side hemorrhagic stroke that left him temporarily paralyzed on his left side. During recovery, the structured timelines and milestone markers used by his speech, occupational, and physical therapists not only supported his healing—they awakened his fascination with goal pursuit and achievement. Released from rehabilitation in April 2019, James returned home armed with compensatory strategies, renewed faith, and a determination to reclaim his independence.
As recovery progressed, James developed an insatiable drive to pursue, understand, and master the mechanics of goal-setting and personal transformation. He pushed himself physically, first walking a mile unassisted and later completing the 10,000-steps-a-day challenge. Creatively, he returned to writing, expanding his “Quick But Powerful Reads” book series and producing several additional titles.
He also kept a promise he’d made to himself years earlier—to earn a Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology—and enrolled in an online doctoral program. During this period, James combined insights from his master’s research, his growing expertise in coaching, and his personal healing journey to develop the Self-Love Practitioner concept, eventually authoring Becoming a Self-Love Practitioner.
This framework became central to his life coaching sessions. As client results began to shift dramatically, his practice grew—and A New Horizon Life Coaching was born. Word of mouth spread quickly, expanding the virtual service to over 80 clients nationwide. A New Horizon soon became recognized as one of the fastest-growing virtual coaching practices in its region, offering life, relationship, career, business, and group coaching.
In pursuit of excellence, James earned 15 certificates in coaching-related disciplines, including a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt in service and manufacturing. Within his Ph.D. program, he is also pursuing Board Certification in Executive Coaching, positioning himself to support leaders and organizations at the highest levels.
Today, despite having faced some of life’s most profound challenges, James continues to recover, write, research, coach, and thrive. His mission is simple yet powerful:
to help others become the best version of themselves—first for themselves, and then for others—in that specific, necessary order.
